What a visit looks like

  • What we do

Your therapist watches you lift, carry, push, pull, reach, kneel, climb and stand, and records how you do each task and how your body responds. The weights and times your job asks for are the guide. You get a written summary.

  • What decides how many visits

How long testing takes depends on what it is for, what your referral asks and how your body responds. Your therapist explains it before you begin.

  • Who treats you

A physical therapist runs and writes up the test. A physical therapist assistant does not.

    Meet the team
  • How it is paid for

By the payer on your case, or by you if you choose to pay yourself. We tell you which before you begin.

    How fees work
  • Chest pain, trouble breathing, a sudden severe headache or pain, new weakness or numbness, loss of bladder or bowel control, or a fall with a head injury needs emergency care now. Call 911.

Questions about this care

Who gets the results?

You do, and the people your case names, such as your doctor or your adjuster. We share your records only as the law allows.

Is a functional test a medical exam?

No. It shows what you can do on tasks. Your doctor decides about your diagnosis and your work limits.

Will it hurt?

We work within what you can tolerate. Some tasks can be uncomfortable. Tell us, and we stop or change the task.

We hear about your injury at your first visit, not in the form.
