If you were hurt at work

Start here. This page is what to do first, and what to expect from us.

This page is for you if…

  • You were hurt on the job and want to know what happens next

  • Your doctor or adjuster mentioned physical therapy or work conditioning

  • You want to get back to the tasks of your job

  • You would rather talk it through in Spanish

From your first call to your first day back

  1. 01

    Step 1: Get care first

See a doctor or go to the emergency room. In an emergency, call 911.

  2. 02

Step 2: Call, message or use the form

Tell us your name, your phone and when to reach you. Our case coordinator answers in English or Spanish.

  3. 03

Step 3: Tell us who your adjuster is

If you have one. Your state decides who may direct your care, and we explain what that means for you.

  4. 04

Step 4: Come for a first visit

About an hour with a physical therapist, who asks about your job, examines you and explains the plan.

  5. 05

Step 5: Work toward the job

Your plan builds up the tasks your job asks for, and we update the people your case names.

What people ask about their claim

We do not decide your claim and we do not give legal advice. This is what we can tell you.

  • Who directs my care?

Tell us who your adjuster is. Your state decides who may direct your care. We explain what that means for you before your first visit.

  • Who pays for my visits?

Often the workers' compensation carrier on your case. We check with the payer you name and tell you what to expect before you start.

  • Who sees what we write?

You do, and the people your case names. We share your records only as the law allows.

  • Can I keep working?

Sometimes. Your doctor sets work limits. We plan visits around your shifts when we can.

  • Chest pain, trouble breathing, a sudden severe headache or pain, new weakness or numbness, loss of bladder or bowel control, or a fall with a head injury needs emergency care now. Call 911.

More questions

What if I do not have an adjuster yet?

Call us anyway. We tell you what we can do now, and we write down who to contact when you have one.

What if my employer sent me?

Tell us. We ask who the referral came from and who receives updates, and you tell us what you are comfortable sharing.

Do I pay anything?

Often the payer on your case pays. We tell you what you may owe before you start.

Start with a call or a message

We hear about your injury at your first visit, not in the form.
